How do I apply for a long-stay visa?

To apply for a long-stay visa, you are required to:

* hold a travel document such as a passport which is valid for the period of your stay in France, or if your stay is over twelve months, for the period of twelve months;
* complete and sign a long-stay visa application ;
* attach identity photographs meeting standard requirements to the form: the number of photographs varies according to the consular post where you submit your application, your nationality and reasons for your stay in France;
* pay application fees;
* provide proof depending on the reason for your stay in France and your personal situation: please see the list below or a diplomatic or consular post

List of proof:

* moving to reside in France as a spouse of a French citizen;
* married in France and moved to France.

Additional documents may be required by the competent authority to process visas, including those of persons under 18 years of age.
